Weekly Practice - Practice journal
At the beginning of each term, your child will be given a Practice Journal. This booklet is used to set and track a student's practice each week.
You'll need to help them fill it out and sign off on each task as it is completed. The teacher will help during each lesson to assign tasks and songs for the week.
Points will be awarded to the student at the next lesson based on how many days they practiced and the items that were completed that week.
Click on the picture for a detailed explanation of how to use the Practice Journal including a list of goals to help improve your child's technique and musical knowledge.
completing songs
Each lesson every student is given several opportunities to demonstrate their ability to satisfactorily play the songs the have been working on.
The teacher will check them out on each song and give them pass on the ones that are satisfactory and stamp the song as complete.
For any song that is not a pass, the teacher will give clear instructions on how to correct their performance and will demonstrate the correct way of playing the song.
Each song once complete is worth one fretpoint.
winning games
At the end of each lesson, the teacher will bring the class together to play several games based on increasing the students ability to play, hear and understand music.
Some games will have multiple winners, others will only have a single winner. While we can't always guarantee it, we aim to make sure each student wins at least once per lesson.
Every time a student wins they earn one fretpoint.

Finishing books

When a student finishes one book they will be given the next book free of charge.

end of year concert
Every year we hold a concert for our students to gain experience in performing their instrument in front of a large audience.
This can be quite frightening for some students but is always extremely rewarding.
To help give student the courage to perform we reward them with 5o fretpoints for their participation.
referring friends
We know how much all of our students love taking lessons with us and also know that they like to tell their friends about how much fun they are having. So that they can be rewarded for spreading the word, we provide each student with referral cards that they can hand out to friends. Both students are awarded 200 fretpoints if their friend signs up.
